Common Symptoms

  • Paint bubbling up and flaking off near skirtings (0 - 3 feet high)
  • White powdery salt deposits (efflorescence) appearing on plaster
  • Musty damp smell and black mold spots in corners
  • Wall plaster feeling cold and soft to touch

Primary Root Causes

  • Capillary action pulling ground moisture upward into brick walls due to missing DPC (Damp Proof Course)
  • Water seepage from adjoining bathroom or kitchen plumbing pipes
  • External rain water soaking through unsealed exterior walls during Kolkata monsoons

🔬 Self-Diagnostic Test

Scrape 2 inches of paint off. Press a piece of clear plastic wrap on the wall with tape. If water droplets form under the sheet within 24 hours, active ground seepage is present.

Recommended Chemical & Waterproofing System

Apply Dr. Fixit Dampguard Epoxy Damp Proofing Treatment directly on exposed bare concrete/plaster, followed by waterproof putty and moisture-resistant emulsion.
